Life behind bars is often very lonely, and many prisoners serve out their sentence without visits from friends and family. The prison chaplain from Herstedvester prison called Copenhagen Vineyard and asked if we would join in visiting the inmates, and therefore we said yes right away. The purpose in visiting inmates is to be there for people and speak with those who do not have many to talk with. We do it because we want to, because we ourselves take a lot home with us, and because we believe we are called to do that which Jesus says in Matthew 25: ‘’I was in prison and you came to visit me … whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me!
